The Reverend Raymond Legania

Pr. Legania is a native of New Orleans (Algiers), Louisiana. He attended the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, and was ordained on May 21, 1978.
He served first as pastor of Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit on the South side of Chicago. Then in 1988, he accepted a call from the Division for Outreach of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) to serve as Mission Director for the Metropolitan Chicago Synod. In February 1, 1993, the Rev. Dr. Raymond Legania assumed responsibilities as Mission Director for the Northern Texas-Northern Louisiana and the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synods of the ELCA. In November 1999, he returned to Chicago and became pastor of Imani Lutheran Church that, in 2002, consolidated with Bethel Lutheran Church to become Bethel-Imani Lutheran Church.
He holds masters' degrees from Catholic Theological Union and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. In 1987, he received a doctor of ministry degree from Chicago Theological Seminary.

- Serve as primary pastoral contact for the congregations of the South, Southwest, Central, and Northeast Conferences
