Who We Are
Support. Facilitation. Partnership.
One of 65 synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Metropolitan Chicago Synod's role is one of partnership and support, both to the over 200 congregations and worshipping communities, as well as the ELCA churchwide office.
The Metropolitan Chicago Synod is:
Our work is strongly rooted in Word and Sacrament. We are grounded in reformation principles and shaped by the Lutheran tradition.
Our synod works in a diverse, multicultural, progressive, urban and suburban context that requires ministry and mission that speaks to people where they are.
Our synod faces today's and future challenges and opportunities with open hearts and minds.
We work each day to share that love within our congregations and communities, helping them renew, strengthen, and thrive.
