Worship

Rooted in Worship, the Center of Our Work

Worship unites us in celebration of God’s Word and Sacrament. It connects us as Lutherans, to ourselves, to God, and to each other. It provides a mean for helping us grow in our faith.

The Metropolitan Chicago Synod takes an active role in supporting our congregations in their worship planning and efforts.

“Since we believe that Jesus Christ, the living Word, is God's truth and not just our own, our liturgies must reflect our conviction that Christ is God's power of life and redemption for every time and every place.” Read Bishop Miller‘s statement Living Lutheran: Implications for Synod Worship Events.

  • Prayers for Sunday. September 4, 2016, to August 27, 2017 (compiled by Chaplain Sandra Reback, ELCA Diaconal Minister, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hinsdale)

  • This resource includes petitions for congregations, pastors, bishops of the church, and synod, churchwide, and international ministries.

  • In addition to using these petitions on Sunday morning, consider printing them in the service bulletins/weekly newsletters so that congregants can pray for these ministries all week if they choose to take up this ministry.

Fund for Mission
The synod also supports its congregations in its ministry and worship efforts by providing grants through our Fund For Mission program.
