Helping Congregations Grow and Thrive
The Metropolitan Chicago Synod works to energize and renew congregations, supporting their efforts to “turnaround” and begin to grow and thrive. Our Turnaround Synod Initiative (TSI) is our program that invites these congregations to be inspired, challenged, and empowered to increase participation in their congregation and community and become more engaged.

Congregational Assessment Tool Available
Through Tag Consulting at Reduced Rate
Through a special arrangement with TAG Consulting, congregations in the Metropolitan Chicago Synod can do a self-assessment using the Transforming Church Index, a comprehensive online survey. Any and every person who attends your church will be invited to complete the survey, so that results you get provide a full and reliable picture of key aspects of congregational life.
When your congregation signs up to do the survey, you will receive complete instructions, along with materials to help you promote the process to get the most congregational involvement. TAG recommends keeping the survey open for about a month, after which you will receive the results along with a debriefing to provide a fuller explanation.
The Rev. John Holm, a pastor in the synod and a TAG consultant, is training volunteers to debrief congregations so that we will be able to have a number of congregations in the process at the same time.
TAG is offering the assessment and debriefing to synod congregations at a discounted price of $299 (usual cost is $499 for the survey and $150 for the debriefing). Congregations may choose to continue working with TAG for a fuller assessment and planning process under a separate contract.
