The Rev. Dr.
Ray Pickett

Pastor Ray Pickett has
been teaching New
Testament at the Lutheran
Seminary Program in
the Southwest since
1996. He was ordained
in 1989, and served as
Associate Pastor of
Bethany Lutheran
Church in Tulsa, Okla.
In 1993, he was called to Peace Lutheran
Church in Manhattan, Kan., where he served for
three years before accepting the call to teach at
the Lutheran Seminary Program.
Pastor Pickett received a Master of Divinity
degree from Wartburg Seminary, and a Ph.D. in
New Testament from the University of Sheffield.
In addition to publishing several articles and
book reviews, he is the author of The Cross in
Corinth: The Social Significance of the Death of
Jesus, and is a contributor to the multi-volume
Fortress series A Peoples' History of Christianity,
published in November 2005. He frequently
takes study groups to archeological sites in
Greece, Turkey, and Rome.
