Fund for Mission
Apply for a Fund for Mission grant for your congregation.
The Fund for Mission is a synod endowment fund that provides grants to congregations for new and innovative evangelism efforts. In 2009, grants totaling $140,000 were distributed to 15 congregations. Grants ranged from $2000 to $20,000 and included support for—among others projects—an English-language outreach effort by Iglesia San Esteban Martir in Carpentersville and a community garden/community gathering place at Irving Park Church in Chicago.
Congregations that have previously received funding may apply for one follow-up grant for the same project.
At its May meeting, the Fund for Mission Board awarded grants for 2010 to:
St. Luke’s, Logan Square, Chicago for a direct mail campaign and summer music festival; Redeemer, Park Ridge, for the Spiritual Survival Guide for Prison; Bethany, Chicago, for Jazz on the Grass; Oromo, Chicago, for Project Go; Concordia, Chicago, for their Concordia Place Friendly Visitor Program; Holy Trinity, Elgin, for the Journey Service; Korean Mission, Naperville, for their Saturday Korean School; St. Andrew, West Chicago, for Bilingual-Bicultural Sunday School Outreach; Bethel-Imani, Chicago, for “Non-Violence Is No Punk;” and Jubilee, Country Club Hills, for Sanctuary of Students (S.O.S.).
A total of $111,350 will be distributed to these congregations. Applications for 2011 grants will be available early next year.
Applications and guidelines for 2011 grants will be available in January of next year.
